Award winning songwriter, recording artist and prophetic worship leader Brigitte Donoho has released a single titled 'Pure Worship'. LTTM spoke with Brigitte to find out more about the song, her thoughts on vulnerability in music, and her plans to release more music in the future.

For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in making music?
Absolutely, I’m a Worship leader and songwriter based out of Michigan. I am also married to my high school sweetheart and together we have 2 amazing boys (ages 5 and 10). I have been singing for as long as I can remember but didn’t start full time music ministry until about 11 years ago. It first started out as a need at my local church. We had a new service that was on Saturday evenings that they needed musicians for. I had briefly mentioned that I played guitar and before I knew it I was up there leading worship. It was during this time that I began songwriting as well. From there, my husband and some friends had encouraged me to actively pursue my gifting. Everything was a learning experience and process. It’s been a journey for sure!
Tell us about your new single 'Pure Worship' and what the inspiration behind it was?
'Pure Worship' came out of a season of being completely overwhelmed by the business of life. My boys were really little at the time when I wrote it and I was having a hard time trying to balance everything. The song came in a matter of minutes as I poured my heart out to God. I just kept saying “Take me to the place of Pure Worship, let everything else fade awayâ€. From there this song was birthed. I believe this is the place of intimacy our Heavenly Father wants to bring us to. To the place of Pure Worship.
It's been a while since your last EP, 'Children of God' was released, any plans for a new one?
Absolutely! I am in the process of recording a 3 song EP of songs dedicated to healing after loss. My father passed away 3 years ago and these are songs I wrote dealing with this time period. They are songs of healing and the hope we have when we are in Christ Jesus. Leaving this earthly life is not the end it’s only the beginning. I am also working on a Lullaby EP and new Worship album as well.
How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?
My music has shifted quite a bit over the years. My previous works have had more of a CCM sound with some corporate worship songs. I would consider the music that God has been birthing out of me recently to be deep Worship and songs that come from a place of intimacy and encounter with Holy Spirit. Some of my biggest musical influences would be Rick Pino, Eddies James, Bethel Music, Elevation Music, Travis Greene, Maranda Curtis, William Mcdowell, Kim Walker and Kari Jobe.
If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?
Rick Pino. His songs are like a breath of fresh air. I love his heart for ministry and the depth of his songwriting. It would be a dream to collaborate with him someday.
How would you define success in your career as an artist?
Success to me is seeing others healed, restored and set free by the power of Christ. It is my greatest joy and desire to see others come to Salvation through Christ Jesus. If just one person is affected it’s all worth it.
Do you think artists should be more honest in their music?
I love to hear honesty in lyrics for sure. Vulnerability is something that is often hard but greatly needed. As humans, when we are facing particular struggles we want to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We want to know that there is hope. It’s alright to admit our brokenness and desperate need for the redeeming power of God’s love.
What is your favorite album of all time?
Jars Of Clay self titled album. I was 11 when this came out and it still never gets old when I hear it.
You're stuck on an island, it's hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?
Oh man, just one?! Lol! Right now it would have to be 'Good & Loved' by Travis Greene and Steffany Gretzinger. It’s so so good!!!
What does the next year hold for you?
Lots of new music and ministry events. We are always super busy during the summer with touring and we are putting our tour schedule together for next year now. My husband is an amazing sound tech and my kiddos come along as well.
