This song is a testimony of how God can carry us through the hardest seasons of life. It reflects the struggles her daughter has faced, the lessons learned along the way, and the strength that comes from knowing that God’s grace is always present - even in the moments when the road is difficult.
The song also looks at the next generation. Her daughter’s little boys are watching her, learning from her life, her choices, her strength, and her testimony. “Honey Leather” is a reminder that the lives we live can become lessons for our children and grandchildren.
The song's imagery - including tattoos and the stories they can represent - reflects a life that has been lived, lessons that have been learned, and a testimony that cannot be erased. Beneath it all is a message of redemption, unconditional love, faith, and God's grace.
For Dawn Rix, “Honey Leather” is much more than a song for her daughter. It is a mother's musical testimony to her daughter's journey, a celebration of the woman she has become, and a reminder that God can take the hardest chapters of our lives and use them for His purpose.
