Written and produced by Robert Peterson, the Christian Rock song addresses the anxiety and uncertainty that can surround thoughts of the future and Christ’s return, encouraging believers to remain faithful, purposeful, and fully engaged in the life God has given them today.
Drawing its central imagery from 2 Corinthians 4:7, “My Broken Jars” reflects the biblical picture of believers as fragile jars of clay carrying a treasure greater than themselves. The song acknowledges human vulnerability while offering the assurance that brokenness does not mean abandonment.
The lyrics also echo Christ’s words in Matthew 24:36 that no one knows the day of His return. Rather than allowing speculation or fear about the future to consume the present, Peterson turns that truth into a call to readiness: “Don’t you stray / Cause no one knows the day.” The song also draws from the biblical imagery of keeping lamps prepared, encouraging believers to live actively and faithfully while awaiting Christ’s return.
The release comes during a season of growing momentum for Robert Peterson and The Crusade, whose music has received international airplay. The Joplin, Missouri-based band is also expanding its live presence, including an October 3 concert at the Hughes Brothers Theatre in Branson, Missouri.
Beyond the studio, Peterson is pursuing a personal goal of performing the National Anthem 250 times on electric guitar in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary. As part of this patriotic campaign, he has accepted an invitation to perform his energy-infused, solo guitar rendition at the NASCAR ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas Speedway on Friday, September 25. All pre-race ceremonies will be broadcast live nationally on FS1.
Robert Peterson and The Crusade bring together melodic Christian rock, guitar-driven arrangements, vocal harmonies, and spiritually focused lyrics. Peterson writes, arranges, and produces the band’s material, with the group emphasizing traditional musicianship and an approach free of Auto-Tune and artificial intelligence.
While remaining true to their core sound and message, “My Broken Jars” may offer a glimpse of what to expect from Robert Peterson and The Crusade as their sound and songwriting continue to evolve. A sophomore album is on the horizon, with a suggested release in summer 2027. In addition, the single offers listeners a timely reminder that believers do not have to live anxiously waiting for tomorrow. Instead, the song points listeners toward finding purpose in today, remaining ready, and faithfully going about the Father’s business until Christ returns.
