Maria Jacobs continues to bring a unique artistic perspective shaped by both her cultural heritage and extensive musical background. American born of Syrian Lebanese and Armenian descent, Jacobs has become widely respected across Christian and Jazz music circles through a career that includes ten solo albums and seventeen singles. Her ninth solo album, Back at the Bop Stop, recorded live at the internationally renowned venue, was accepted on the ballot in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards®. Her tenth album, Perfect Is Your Will, also received Grammy ballot recognition in the Best Contemporary Christian Album category for the 2026 Grammy Awards®. Singles from that project, including “I Believe” and “Perfect Is Your Will,” remained in the Top 10 on Christian radio charts for months.
Throughout her career, Jacobs has collaborated with some of the music industry’s most respected musicians and producers, including Alphonso Johnson and the late Ndugu Chancellor of Weather Report, Damien Sneed, The Cleveland Orchestra, Pete Tokar, and Multi-Platinum producer Tommy Coster. Her years performing in Los Angeles further expanded her artistic reach, allowing her to blend Jazz sophistication with deeply rooted Christian themes in a way that feels authentic and emotionally resonant.
Beyond the stage and studio, Jacobs remains deeply committed to music education and community outreach. She currently serves as Jazz Vocal Professor at Kent State University and teaches music to young students in a private school setting. Through her work with the non-profit organization Open Tone Music, she also helps bring music programs to underserved youth in Akron and Cleveland communities. That spirit of encouragement and unity carries directly into “We Are Lifted Up,” making the song feel less like a performance and more like an invitation for listeners to join together in worship.
