Rather than minimizing pain, Shepherds and Wolves permits listeners to wrestle with it. Inspired by the imagery of Scripture, the album explores the voice of the Good Shepherd, the wolves that sometimes hide within the church, and the imperfect human shepherds who occasionally fail the people they are called to serve. Throughout the project, Riggan confronts difficult themes–including betrayal, church hurt, grief, fear, abuse, healing, and redemption–while continually pointing listeners back to the hope and restoration found in Christ.
"Shepherds and Wolves is the most honest album I've ever written," says Riggan. "These songs came from seasons where I had more questions than answers. The album opens with the rescue anthem "Bring Me Home" before moving through deeply personal moments such as the Psalm 23-inspired "Song of the Shepherd," the haunting "Song of the Wolf," the healing declaration "Broken Pieces," and the reflective "Song of Peace." Along the way, Riggan also offers heartfelt interpretations of Andrew Peterson's "Always Good" and Cory Asbury's "Kind," weaving familiar songs into the larger narrative of hope, grace, and restoration.
