Noel Richards, Brian Houston & Wayne Drain Touring Again As The Hudson Taylors
The Hudson Taylors, a three-piece band comprising of Noel Richards, Brian Houston and Wayne Drain, will be reuniting after several years apart for a brief UK tour in March. The band will be heard at a small group of venues, early in the month, with dates confirmed so far of March 7th Sidcup and Henley, 12th Bridgnorth, 13th London and 14th Bedford.
The three singers, each well known as a worship leader in their own right, got together in 2001 when they found themselves working together at a church leaders' conference. They then toured together in the US and were inspired to record an album together, called 'Hurricane', which was released by Kingsway in February 2002. Their collective name, The Hudson Taylors, comes from the name of the first missionary in China.
The collaboration of a Welshman, Irishman and an American has created a unique sound, which mixes the Celtic with rootsy elements of Country, Acoustic rock and Blues. The songs range from intimate ballads to the anthemic and express worship as well as something of God's heart cry for the lost.
Noel Richards will also be appearing as the worship leader on the UK's 'Songs of Praise' programme which airs on BBC TV on Sunday 31st January. This is the second of two programmes which were recorded at Kingsgate Church in Peterborough last year. The TV show is regularly viewed by around 3 million people in the UK, and Noel will be leading with his band, supported by a brass section and Terl Bryant from Psalm Drummers.
