I do really have a love hate relationship with Greatest Hits or in this case Ultimate Collection albums, especially when you know the band or artist haven't split up, and I am sure Matt Redman has a few more classic Redman tracks in him yet. But what this album does do is put together 14 tracks of the best, most well known songs by the man himself, all on one CD.

Matt Redman has been a massive inspiration for me as a worship leader and personally I count him as one of, if not the, best at leading people to seek a closer relationship with God through music. And that's what each of these tracks does, they take you to the throne room of God. These tracks are honest, engaging and they connect the listener to the very heart of the compassionate, loving, Father God. These songs have given the church strength and hope, brought us as individuals back to the heart of worship and reminded us that, no matter what storms life throws at us, God never lets us go.
The track-listing spans the whole back catalogue of the Redman history story, with songs from his early days like The Heart of Worship and I Will Offer Up My Life to the releases of the last few years in Shine and Facedown. If I was personally putting together a CD of the best Matt Redman songs this would more than likely be the album I would put together. If you have only a couple of Redman albums this could be the perfect album to add to your collection. If you already have all of his albums, buy this one and pass it onto a friend to experience heartfelt songs to God.
As the press release says "This may well be the Ultimate Collection, but only so far. Five years from now we'll all be glad of a whole new raft of songs..." And as a massive Matt Redman fan, I can not wait to see what Matt produces next, but this album is a great set of songs showing what amazing songs he has produced to change the face of worship in the church today.
