Chasen Release New Album 'That Was Then, This Is Now'
US rockers Chasen release their brand new album 'That Was Then This Is Now' today. The four piece band from Greenville, South Carolina, are named after their lead singer Chasen Callahan who wrote most of the track on the album and co-produced it with Rob Hawkins (Fireflight).
Callahan is no stranger to songwriting, having previously written songs for Addison Road and Stellar Kart among others. Speaking in an exclusive interview with LouderThanTheMusic, Callahan said "I wrote songs for this record for a little over a year and had both great and rough experiences. With both came the realization of how much we needed God in our lives and how He was always there no matter how far we fell. I also found as I wrote, that now is the time as believers to be proud and celebrate what God is doing and has done in our lives. We need to further the Kingdom of God week after week. I wanted this record to be almost a pep talk or a way for believers and non-believers to hear a positive message of hope and excitement that God is here and He is alive in our lives."
'On and On', the album's first radio single, has already taken the Number 1 spot on Billboard's Christian CHR Chart for three weeks in a row. Another standout tune on the album is 'Castaway' which praises the gift of redemption and a second chance. Callahan teamed up with Sam Mizell (Matthew West, Michael W. Smith, Jordin Sparks) for 'Slow Down' which was inspired by a conversation Callahan had with his mother on a rough day about the comfort and peace found in Christ. Among other tracks, 'There Is Love', also deeply personal, was inspired by the amount of love God has for His children from the perspective of the Callahan's own love for his family.
The remaining members of the band are Evan Silver (guitar), Aaron Lord (drums) and Jared Barber (bass). After a debut full-length album called 'Shine Through the Stars' (2008) they signed to INO Records for their brand new album 'That Was Then This Is Now'.
