S.O. Releases New Single and Video 'Badman'
International recording artist S.O. released a new song 'BADMAN' on March 10, 2022. BADMAN is the first song from S.O.’s new album, which will be released later this year.
S.O. has been in the industry for over a decade. For the last two years, he has been a fully independent artist on his own label, Elder Road Records. Releasing his first mixtape in 2009, he’s now at work on his sixth studio album. In tandem with the release of the single, an accompanying music video for BADMAN also drops today. The video was directed by Karsten Wangert, who has worked with Steph Curry, Under Armour, and The Rock.
BADMAN has been a highly anticipated single, with eager fans making it S.O.’s most pre-saved song to date. The idea for the song came when GP, S.O.’s longtime collaborator and producer, played a clip of Jamaican artist Ninjaman talking about what it means to be a badman. Having spent time living in several different cultures, S.O. knows that words convey different meanings to different groups of people. That’s exactly the case with the phrase “badmanâ€. “Growing up in London, I heard the phrase “badman†quite a bit. It could mean that the person being referenced is literally a bad man (in the negative) or the opposite. Doing something that goes against the grain, providing for your family, making sure the people around you are safe and secure, thinking of others before yourself-those are the things that a badman does. In my case, a badman is someone who stands on their faith, loves God, loves his wife and children. You are not a bad man if you are not doing those things.â€
In that sense, the song BADMAN describes the good life. Living sacrificially to provide for those around you is what a real badman does. Standing firm in one’s faith in God, through both triumph and trial, is what a real badman does. Aiming to please God and not man is how a real badman lives. In short, BADMAN combines lyrical mastery with a timely message.
