Starting with the first full track, “Medical Restriction,” the driving drumbeat and bassline, her fingers skipping across keys and the way Pratt layers her vocals, it’s giving impressions of the multitalented Prince. This beat is undeniable and so is her message: “Healing takes a minute.” Diving deeper into Introspect, the tone changes a few times from fun, modern and funkdriven to a genre-bending, Eminem-style beat (and Eminen-style rapid, stacked bars from Pratt), then back to a certified turn-up anthem (with notes of Nicki Minaj’s playful delivery), before coming home to the soulful grooves Pratt has perfected over her previous 2 CDs. This entire EP is a showcase of Kim Pratt’s emceeing dexterity right along with her production prowess and eclectic soul.

Introspect's high point is the fun, female collaboration, “All the Way Up” - an effective anthem for staying above the drama and setting your mind on things above. This is a perfectly executed collaboration between Kim Pratt and Erica Cumbo, celebrating both women's complimentary skills. This will be a DJ favorite.

The later half of the project boasts Pratt’s signature melodic sound featuring the 2 singles she released on music videos: “Walk on Water” and “Fall” and rounded out by the spoken word piece, “Mirror, Mirror.”

On “Walk on Water,” Pratt’s storytelling carries us back to a day when life was simpler, and so was stepping out on faith. It features Ark Laci’s cool vocals beckoning us to take that faith walk again. “Fall” is Pratt’s most personal entry on Introspect, acting as both confession and prayer. This gem features crooner Solo E on the chorus and manages to gift listeners with a sense of hope and redemption. Finally, “Mirror, Mirror,” is the perfect poetic ending. Featuring the incomparable voice of Lisa McClendon, this poem gets to the heart of the project, Pratt’s invitation for us all to be introspective.

Introspect takes the loneliness out of moments that can feel isolating or embarrassing, and gives a soundtrack to God’s grace. The 7 tracks it offers aren’t long, but each song is meant to be played on repeat and will keep us engaged deeply until we get another Long Play entry from Kim Pratt.
