This album is a continuation of the Best Worship... Ever! series, which has gained amazing success over the last few years, putting together a large collection of songs on a triple CD box set so people could have all of the tracks they wanted together in one place. Now the series has produced a new 3 disc album called The Best Instrumental Worship Album... Ever!, with 50 songs that we have come to know and love and use in our times of worship. Now the series has produced a new 3 disc album called The Best Instrumental Worship Album... Ever!, with 50 songs that we have come to know and love and use in our times of worship. Yet on this album the vocals have been stripped off to let the music take the listener to a place of worship.
The album is jammed packed with tracks from All Heavens Declare to Beautiful Saviour, from The Fathers Song to Be Still, songs that you would know from years gone by. Sadly at times the songs can sound and feel a bit dated, the majority of the songs are piano led and a lot of the versions on this album sound too different to their original recordings. Personally I found it hard to enjoy all of the changes made to the songs. Saying all of that, there are some good versions of the songs on the album for example Lord Let Your Glory Fall and Be Lifted Up are hidden gems, but a larger majority of the album I was a little disappointed with.
Without sounding like I am stating the obvious, the songs are missing the vocals (I know that makes me sound stupid), but when walking around the streets listening to the album I missed hearing people singing the melody lines of the songs with their inspiring lyrics.
There will be people that will love having these versions of these songs, so if you like instrumental versions of songs done with an acoustic guitar, flutes and strings, you will enjoy this. But sadly it wasn’t for me. A good album to use in times of prayer and reflection in small house groups.
