Anike (fka Wande) Releases New Single 'PRAY FOR ME'
Christian music pioneer Anike leans into summer with powerful afrobeats-influenced anthem, PRAY FOR ME. The rhythmic faith-rooted record swings back and forth between pop and afrobeats, with harmonious vocal compositions and uptempo lyrics sure to lift even the most stagnant of spirits. The playful, melodic beat amplifies the deeper message enveloped in her lyricism.
Opening the record with “I reclaim my victory, it’s your power over me, give my all to you, Lord I let goâ€, Anike stays true to her mission of bringing Christian worship music to the forefront of her global platform.
Anike has spent the past 4 years in a period of growth and self discovery, leading to her name change and re-commitment to her faith. Her music is a powerful journey of surrender, restoration, and breakthrough. The first female Christian rapper to tour with icons like Lecrae and collaborate with artists like TobyMac and Mav City, Anike has a unique blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. She was the first female artist signed to Reach Records and has been featured on GRAMMY-nominated projects and Billboard's #1 album "The Mav Way." Influential figures like Michelle Obama and Kirk Franklin have recognized her contributions on their playlists as well.
During this transformative period, Anike's life has undergone significant changes. She got married, relocated back to Atlanta, and embarked on a new chapter with her husband. In a profound act of faith and courage, she embraced a new name-Anike, given by her mother, meaning to value, cherish, and care for the goodness of God. With faith at the forefront, Anike’s first release under her new name ushers in a new era and is partnered with a music video directed by Ade "Adelight" Adesina. The video shows a young girl discovering her purpose through the power of prayer.
PRAY FOR ME precedes Anike’s upcoming self-titled album, Anike, scheduled to release on August 30th, 2024. Anike officailly announced the release of this new album alongside the release of Pray For Me with this post. Mark your calendars for these dates and prepare to be moved by Anike's compelling new music.
