Philippines Singer-Songwriter Debie Myrtle Releases Debut Single 'Love Story'
Debie Myrtle is a singer-songwriter based in Manila, Philippines. Her debut single is a gospel song entitled 'Love Story', released on 28 February, with an OPM song entitled 'Papalapit' set for release in March 2025. To date, she is currently venturing with a producer to release five more songs for 2025-2026.
Inspired by the music of Lauren Daigle, Taylor Swift, and Moira dela Torre, Debie Myrtle creates music that is soulful, truthful, and hopeful. Despite the deepness of pain, the hyped of inspirations or the simplicity of the stories, her songs resonate a sound of hope rooted in the cries and desperation of her soul to speak of truth and eventually, igniting sparkle to the world being influenced by music.
Myrtle started writing when she was jobless in 2015, while in between home and church, with the sudden melody and lyrics. It feels magical. The poems she usually wrote for others progressively turned into songs. After five years of day job and finally being hit with the pandemic in 2020, Myrtle challenged her own existence and found purpose in life. Only when she joined an online 33:3 Challenge, a one-week songwriting course initiated by Brad Guldemond, was she able to rekindle her love for songwriting.
Her education as a teacher with specialization in English equipped her in writing. Through enough, her job in the Coast Guard widened her experience in writing, public relations, managing events, and reaching out to communities, and led her to widen her connections and inspirations to truly save lives even through music. Despite the hectic demands of her job, she chooses to pursue her passion to keep her going and motivated. She pressed on with the mindset, “This is my passion and the more I get to do this makes me realize how life is worth living. I am on the road to finish the race and create a world where music brings grace, healing, joy, faith, hope, and love.”
