Sierrah Garcia Releases 'Joy Like This' Featuring ZEKE

Indie pop vocalist Sierrah Garcia has collaborated with ZEKE to produce the new single 'Joy Like This,' a track that channels supernatural joy. The song is streaming everywhere March 21.

ZEKE explains, “In a time where depression and anxiety are at an all-time high, a song like this is a breath of fresh air. It’s a reminder that joy can exist, regardless of your circumstances, when Christ is at the center of your life.”

The partnership process created a sonic palette that deviates a little from Sierrah’s ethereal groove. “Joy Like This” is full of boundless energy, musically bright in a way that matches the lyrical themes.

“It’s a bit of a left turn from my usual sound!” Sierrah confirms. “Collaborating with ZEKE, we came up with a really fun, upbeat mix that we hope appeals to a wide array of people. He and I both come from a background of loss, disappointment, betrayal, abuse… so we wanted to write about the joy that comes from the Lord that supersedes emotional happiness. It’s deeper and more all-encompassing.”

That all-encompassing joy has often been hinted at through past songs from Sierrah, even tracks with a more contemplative arrangement. The singer’s music is always led by her crystal clear tone, which comes from a lifetime of song. Born to a musician father, the artist says she’s “been singing since before I can remember.”

Despite this rich musical legacy, for years, Sierrah was content for her songs to stay treasures between her and God. After singing in choirs throughout school, she moved into writing her own songs in her 20s- but kept them quiet. Until one day a few years ago when she felt called to something new. Thus the songs on her EP A were born.

“I couldn’t think of a name for the album so I jokingly chose ‘A’ as a starting point!” the songwriter admits. “But it developed into the idea of a fresh start. The beginning. Alpha.”

And for Sierrah, it begins with faith.

“My songs are about faith. Vulnerability. Hope when it’s hard. The idea that you don’t have to have it all together to come to the feet of Jesus,” Sierrah says.
