Hixson enters this new chapter shortly after one of the most significant achievements of his career: his album Room With a View winning "Album of the Year" at the 2025 Josie Music Awards, one of the world's largest independent music award shows. The unexpected honor further solidified Hixson's place as a leading voice in independent Christian music.

This next album is a good mix of musical styles and themes. There are songs on here that are strong and brilliant pop listens, like the catchy 'A Better Place' which will get you moving along to it, the song reminded me of something Owl City might create. The same could be said for the funky 'Goodbye Gravity', think Nile Rodgers on guitar with the vocals of maybe someone like a young Justin Timberlake.

I love the title track 'Into The Blue' it has this modern yet nostalgic 80's sound to it, the same could be said for closing track 'Neon Dreams'. Both would fit as soundtracks on any TV show that are based in 1980's. Overall this album is very uplifting, yet also deals with many different themes. There is a massive sense that this album is about looking forward but also giving a little nod to where you have come from through storytelling lyrics. One of those moments comes during the brilliant 'Letter I Wrote', which is more of an anthem than anything, but one of my top tracks on the album.

From a purely musical style the comparison I would say this album sounds like is something artists like Benson Boom and Lewis Capaldi would create, a compliment in itself. Yet Brandon Hixson is crafting together his own sound and style which is gaining momentum. This is a very updated modern sounding record, mixing together great pop sounds but also still keeping a little of the other styles and sounds to it. If you're looking for something to listen to that is top quality modern pop music with some storytelling lyrics, you can't go wrong with this release 'Into The Blue'.
