Interview: Bailey Thompson
New in our mini-interview series: we sat down with the brilliant Bailey Thompson for a truly great conversation about music you won’t want to miss.
Which artist or artists first inspired you to become a musician, and what about them sparked that passion?
I, along with many other young girls in 2008, was totally in awe of Taylor Swift and her songwriting. I wrote my first song in 2011 and have been writing ever since! Now, I am super inspired by artists like Franni Cash, Maddie Harding, & Shalom Malee!
What’s your all-time favourite album, and why does it stand out for you?
Tapestry by Carole King. I am just in love with songwriting that feels more like storytelling; writing that is authentic and meaningful and not conventional. “You’ve Got a Friend” is my favorite song of all time!
What was the very first gig you ever went to? Where was it, and when?
I’m pretty sure it was Francesca Batistelli and Brandon Heath!! It was at a church here where I live (Myrtle Beach) and goodness, I can’t remember when. I was super young - maybe 2007 or 2008!
What’s the most recent gig you’ve been to? Where and when was it?
The most recent gig I’ve been to was Brandon Lake & Phil Wickham in Charleston at the Bojangles Coliseum! They were incredible!
What does the next year look like for you—any exciting plans, projects, or goals?
2026 is going to be full of new music! I’m not quite sure what God’s got planned, but I’m going to keep being obedient and releasing new music and whatever God wants to do with that, I’m cool with!
