When I saw that Grace Graber had covered such a big song and turned it into a punk track, I have to admit I was very eager to see what she had done with it. The original by Hillsong Worship was a landmark moment in contemporary Christian music and, for many listeners, helped shape the sound of the genre at the time. In fact, it could easily be considered one of the most well-known and widely listened-to worship songs of the past 20 years.

The Hillsong version is so familiar to audiences around the world. People have heard it on the original album, in church services and more recently across countless TikTok videos and social media clips. Because of that cultural footprint, reimagining the song in such a dramatically different style feels like a risky move.

However, the result is surprisingly effective. Grace Graber’s punk interpretation manages to preserve the strength of the original songwriting while completely flipping the musical style on its head. It’s a bold reinterpretation, but the song’s core remains strong enough to carry the new sound, proving that a truly great song can work across very different musical approaches. In the end, the track highlights an important truth: there’s no single right or wrong sound in worship music. What matters is the message, and strong songwriting can carry that message through any style.
