In September 2024, the teamspent two days worshipping God together, situated in the beautiful surroundings of the Sierra Cabrera mountains. This was Lou's dad's home at the time of recording. The goal was to capture a number of sets, in the vain of the Worship Wednesday sessions which have been a weekly feature of our lives these past five years. Armed with a small selection of sounds and a vocal harmoniser, we embarked on a journey of simple, improvised and heart-felt worship. Being outside with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains and a setting sun brought about a different feel which was infused with a potent sense of peace.
This album carries a real sense of tranquil peace throughout. From the very beginning, it creates a calm and reflective atmosphere that gently draws the listener into a place of worship.
The opening track, “All Heaven Declare,” is a sweet and tender introduction to the album. It’s quiet and reflective, yet deeply powerful. There’s something about the way it unfolds that immediately settles the listener, creating a sense of safety and stillness—as if you’ve been invited into a quiet moment at the feet of Jesus.
The transition into “Faithful One” is beautifully handled, as is the transition into all the songs. The flow between the two feels completely natural, never interrupting the reflective space the tracks create. Rather than feeling like a collection of separate recordings, the album moves with a gentle continuity. It doesn’t feel like track after track; instead, it unfolds more like a steady river of worship, carrying the listener along with grace and calm.
Musically, the album is very stripped back, built largely around piano, vocals, and gentle harmonies. Yet even with this simplicity, it carries a surprising sense of power and depth. Lou Fellingham’s vocals, supported by the layered harmonies, guide the listener with a tone that is both gentle and quietly commanding.
I particularly loved the album’s version of Great Is Thy Faithfulness. It’s unhurried and reverent, allowing the beauty of the hymn to breathe. The same could be said for Be Still for the Presence of the Lord, which captures the reflective spirit of the album perfectly.
In many ways, this track sums up the entire project. Its calm, prayerful atmosphere reflects the overall style and heart of the album, drawing the listener into a quiet, thoughtful space of worship.
I first listened to this album while sitting in a busy coffee shop, surrounded by the noise of everyday life. People were ordering coffee and the latest trendy drinks, rushing in and out with takeaway cups, all caught up in the rhythm of their day. With my headphones on, though, these songs created a completely different space.
In the middle of all that movement and noise, the music invited me to pause. For a moment, everything felt still. The album carries a quiet reminder to be still even in the midst of a busy life, gently drawing the listener back to a place of reflection and worship.
As the songs played, one thought kept returning: through the storm, He is Lord—Lord of all. In that crowded café, surrounded by the rush of the world, the album managed to create a moment of calm and perspective that stayed with me long after the music ended.
