Blog: LZ7 Making A Difference
As I hope you've noticed by now, LTTM has putting all its efforts this week into supporting the current LZ7 single, 'This Little Light'. What we really like about this single is that more than anything, it's about spreading a message of goodness and kindness. It's not a 'shoving the gospel down your throat' kind of thing, it's not a 'getting into the charts will make us look good' kind of thing, it's just a song, with a message, backing up something this band have been chipping away at for months now.
LZ7 have been incredibly active in the schools of Manchester, an area known for its high levels of crime and anti-social behaviour. "We love chatting to young people and instilling a positive message into them", explained the group's lead singer Lindz in an exclusive interview with LouderThanTheMusic. "If by what we do and teach, young people choose to make better decisions for themselves and the people around them then that's an inspiration to us!"
Spearheading the 'Shine Your Light' campaign, LZ7 have been encouraging the youth they work with to do random acts of kindness in their community. "Whether it's teaching your Gran to text or giving a copper a hi-5!" as Lindz puts it. But there's a more serious side to it all too. Just take a look at a few testimonies from kids who have joined in and you start to get a picture of the affect this is having:
I bought the local homeless guy a coffee and had a chat about the big guy in the sky with him.
I jumped started a man's car in McDonalds car park, he couldn't believe it when I turned down payment.
I helped a lady who was struggling with her bags at the airport, I helped her carry her bags on to the airport bus and put her trolley away and she was so happy that I helped her.
I saw a homeless guy staring in the the window of a bakery so asked him what he wanted and bought him it.
So, like us here at LTTM, thousands of people are backing this single to give the campaign the exposure to go on making a difference in communities all over the country. "The song is the anthem to all these acts of kindness to show the world that young people can have a positive impact on the world", says Lindz. "We want to see a whole movement of young people shining so what better place to see this happen than putting the song in the charts."
