Roma Waterman Returns With 'Breathe' - A New Single Born From a Season of Stillness

Jun 24 2026

AUSTRALIAN CHRISTIAN ARTIST Roma Waterman has released her new single Breathe, a reflective and deeply personal song shaped by a six year spiritual transformation.

Known for a career spanning more than 30 years - from cassette tapes and vinyl through to CDs, DVDs and digital streaming - Roma continues to evolve as both an artist and a spiritual voice. Her latest work marks a significant new chapter.

“Study has slowed me down in ways I didn’t expect,” Roma says. “I run at a hundred miles an hour, but learning to sit in silence, to breathe, to rest in God - it’s changed my life.”

Roma recently completed a Graduate Diploma of Theology and is now studying for a Master of Spirituality. Through her studies she has rediscovered ancient Christian practices such as breath prayers, Lectio Divina and the Prayer of Examen. These practices have become central to her faith and have directly influenced the writing of Breathe.

The song’s key lyric - “Breathe. Don’t be afraid to say nothing.” - reflects Roma’s desire to help listeners find stillness in a noisy world.

“I love the idea of bringing contemplative practices into the charismatic space,” she says. “They’re not opposites. When we bring them together, it brings so much richness.”

Roma also credits Christian radio for playing a vital role in her career. Her early hit More Than Ice Cream became widely known through local stations across Australia.

“If it wasn’t for Christian radio, no one would have heard my music,” she says. “It’s overwhelming and humbling. Christian radio models what church is supposed to be - local, relational, connected.”

Roma continues to champion the importance of local stations, believing they create the kind of community that leads to real change.

“Change doesn’t happen at a global level,” she says. “It happens over tables, in small communities. That’s why Christian radio is so important.”

With Breathe now at radio and more music on the way, Roma is entering a new creative and spiritual season - one that blends her long history as an artist with her growing work in spiritual formation.

“Great art comes from great truth,” she says. “And this season has been full of truth for me.”

Breathe is available now on all streaming platforms.
