Indie Rock Band The Race Releasing New Single 'D of E'

Jul 03 2026

The Race, an indie rock band from Reading, UK, release their new single 'D of E', on 10 July. This is the second in a run of singles from their upcoming 'FAMILY' EP, out in October.

'D of E' (so named as Graeme's eldest daughter was undertaking her silver award when this track got it's working title) is a deeply reflective song that explores the seasonal shifts of life and the vulnerability of aging, written as a heartfelt nod to the older generations in our lives, the track blends poignant personal storytelling with rich imagery - symbolising resilience through the metaphor of an oak tree planted firmly by the river. Accompanied by a music video featuring band member Jess's dad, 'D of E' captures the mountains and trails of life's journey, delivering a powerful message of perseverance, loyalty, and divine faithfulness when the body begins to fail.

Sonically, it sits somewhere around Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, The Maccabees, and Bombay Bicycle Club, with touches of Nothing But Thieves, Friendly Fires, and Cold War Kids in the palette.

"It's all self-produced, so it feels like a really honest representation of where we've landed", the band explains. "After two albums, Radio 1 Maida Vale/6Music sessions, and festival slots at Reading and Truck, we stepped away for a while - and somehow ended up having ten children between us. We regrouped late 2024 with a lot more life behind us, and that’s really shaped this new material."
