Matt Moore Returns With Rock Rager 'Burn It To The Ground' Featuring Nick Detty Of Wolves At The Gate
Independent rock chart topper Matt Moore is back with “Burn It To The Ground,” a raging rock single featuring Nick Detty of Wolves At The Gate. The song is going for adds at rock radio and streaming everywhere now.
“While at first listen, it's a pretty aggressive, even angry-sounding song, the heart behind ‘Burn It To The Ground’ is all about the process of forgiveness and the importance of setting healthy boundaries,” Matt Moore reveals. “A handful of years ago, I had a very close friend in my life, somebody very dear to me, who chose to end our friendship. They chose to move on and on the way out, did and said some really hurtful, really painful things. I carried those hurts with me for a long time. I realized that it was their choice to end the relationship, and there wasn't really anything more I could do than offer my forgiveness and move on. But then, this person started showing back up and acting like nothing had ever happened between us. All of the feelings I thought I had dealt with came back to the surface. It forced me to confront the truth that forgiveness isn't just a one-time deal. Forgiveness is an ongoing process. It's a daily choice. But forgiveness also doesn't mean putting yourself back in unhealthy situations. Forgiveness doesn't mean pretending that the painful and difficult things didn't happen to you. And forgiveness doesn't necessarily rebuild broken trust overnight.”
What listeners will hear in the song, which Matt cowrote with Disciple’s Josiah Prince, is the process of wrestling with that layered, nuanced wounding. To really round out the intensity of the emotional furnace that is “Burn It To The Ground,” Matt drew on guest vocals from Wolves At The Gate screamer Nick Detty. In this new era, for live performances of the song in the future, he has also enlisted the guitar work of Joshua Betrand (Random Hero, Zahna) — a collaboration that debuted at Kingdom Come Festival in Greentown, IN.
The result of the talent Matt draws on is a riff-heavy masterclass that shows the artist at his finest, proving why his single “Darker Waters” had the staying power to become 2024’s most-played song at Christian rock radio. “Burn It To The Ground” sees Matt and Nick’s trading vocal punches to create a musical environment fitting for such an emotionally heated song — ultimately building towards catharsis and renewal.
“I believe that reconciliation is possible in many cases, but it's a process. So for me, forgiveness looked like choosing to let go of those hurts, deciding not to carry that bitterness around with me, and through God's strength, deciding to move forward,” Matt says, closing out his personal relational story. “It meant trusting that God has a plan and a purpose for all of it, and that some bridges are meant to stay burned for now — and that's OK. This was my opportunity to say, ‘I forgive you. I'm not carrying this hurt with me anymore. I'm moving on. But that chapter of our relationship is closed for now.’”
He adds, “If you've carried hurt, if you've carried bitterness or unforgiveness, I want to encourage you that you are not alone.Through God’s help, you can find the strength to let these things go, to actually forgive and experience freedom.”
