Casting Crowns, MercyMe & tobyMac Receive American Music Award Nominations
The nominations for the 2010 American Music Awards were announced this week. The three artists shortlisted in the 'Favorite Artist in Contemporary Inspirational' category were Casting Crowns, MercyMe and tobyMac.
Unlike the Grammy Awards, which are based on votes by members of the entertainment industry, AMAs are determined by a poll of music buyers. Fans can visit www.amavote.com to vote for their favourite artist. The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday 21st November.
This is Casting Crowns' fifth career AMA nomination, following their win in 2007. MercyMe have now been nominated three time, previously winning the title in 2004. For tobyMac it is his second nomination. Last year's winner in the Contemporary Inspirational category was Mary Mary.
