Robert Hawkins Releases 'Worth It' During National Recovery Month
Robert Hawkins and The Recovery Gathering Band will release their powerful new single, "Worth It," featuring Minon Bolton, on September 11. Arriving during National Recovery Month, the deeply personal Gospel track transforms Hawkins' own experiences with addiction, depression, relapse, and recovery into a testimony of God's grace, healing, and restoration.
Written by Hawkins alongside Adulphus Scott and Lamontt Blackshire, who also produced the track, "Worth It" confronts some of the darkest moments of Hawkins' story. Rather than hiding the pain behind his recovery, Hawkins brings it directly into the song, reflecting on overdoses, childhood trauma, regret, broken relationships, and moments when giving up felt easier than continuing forward.
"'Worth It' is about finding purpose through pain and realizing that even our hardest struggles can become part of God's plan for healing and restoration," Hawkins shares. "It was inspired by my personal recovery journey and the stories of countless people who have overcome addiction, depression, and other hardships. I want people who feel like giving up to know their story isn't over. Healing, redemption, and purpose are possible."
Backed by The Recovery Gathering Band and featuring Minon Bolton, "Worth It" builds from personal reflection into a Gospel declaration. The recurring response, "It was worth it," reframes Hawkins' past through the perspective of where God has brought him today. The song reaches its emotional peak as Hawkins testifies to surviving relapse, overdose, homelessness, abandonment, and heartbreak before declaring that he is still here "only by the grace of God."
The new release continues growing momentum for Hawkins' recovery-centered music ministry. His previous single, "Serenity Prayer," reached the Top 100 on the Mediabase Gospel Airplay Chart within two weeks. His career has also included a Billboard Top 10 Music Video, BET Gospel airplay, and Grammy® consideration for "Better Days (Remix)" featuring EMCEE N.I.C.E.
Beyond music, Hawkins serves as Founder and Executive Director of The Recovery Gathering, an organization dedicated to serving individuals and families impacted by addiction, mental health struggles, and other hardships. His music and ministry regularly intersect through recovery events, churches, Celebrate Recovery appearances, community organizations, podcasts, correctional outreach, and live performances across the country.
"Worth It" is a featured track on Hawkins' forthcoming The Recovery Journey Project, releasing November 6. The project draws from real stories of recovery, faith, perseverance, and second chances, with songs including "Lifted by Love," "We Coming Up," "Things Will Work Out (Remix)," and "Just For Today."
For Hawkins, "Worth It" carries the message behind the entire Recovery Journey: the painful chapters of a story do not have to be the final ones. There is still room for grace, restoration, purpose, and another day.
"Worth It" by Robert Hawkins and The Recovery Gathering Band featuring Minon Bolton will be available everywhere September 11.
