Mats Dernand Inspired By Persecuted Church For New Song, 'The Only Thing I Need to Do'
Mats Dernand has released his new single, 'The Only Thing I Need To Do', featuring Loveagainstthewind & Josef Tingbratt. The song is available now on all streaming platforms.
"A year ago, I went to a country in East Africa on a songwriting trip with the organisation Open Doors to meet people from the persecuted church", Mats explains. "Today, I’m releasing a song inspired by a man my fellow songwriters and I met at a trauma centre, where people from the persecuted church were receiving treatment.
The man had been tortured so severely that he had nearly lost his life. Now he was injured, but also full of life. He wanted us to pray for him so that he could return to his hometown and continue sharing the gospel.
The song about this persecuted man turned out, somewhat surprisingly, to be an upbeat pop song with African influences. A song about joy amid persecution. A faith that no torture can stop."
Mats Dernand is a songwriter, producer, pianist, singer, harmonica player and trumpeter and his music ranges from instrumental cinematic to pop, progressive rock and folk.
