Vic Lucas Celebrates 'Yeshua!' and Brings The Journey Experience to South Africa and Nigeria
Afrobeat artist Vic Lucas is celebrating his latest single, 'Yeshua!', released in April 2026, as he prepares to bring his music and testimony to communities in South Africa and Nigeria through The Journey Experience.
Blending Afrobeat, gospel soul, and R&B, Vic creates music that brings the joy of African rhythms into conversation with the faith that anchors his life. “Yeshua!” continues that expression, following a growing catalogue that includes “Holy Ghost,” “Call on Me,” “I Need You,” and his breakout single, “Thank You, God.” Which has carried Vic’s music into the everyday lives of listeners around the world. Now, “Yeshua!” offers another introduction to an artist whose songs are shaped by gratitude, vulnerability, and a journey that has taken him across three continents.
Born in Nigeria and raised in South Africa, Vic moved to the United States on a soccer scholarship, pursuing a future in professional sport. A career-ending injury brought those ambitions to an unexpected halt, leaving him to wrestle with disappointment and questions about what would come next.
Music became a place to process those feelings. Vic wrote “On My Knees” and uploaded it to YouTube, where a feature from a major blog offered an early affirmation of his gift.
Later, while living alone in Mississippi, he channeled his doubts and faith into his first official single, “Enough.” Released without a label, budget, or promotional campaign, the song went on to chart on Billboard, encouraging him to take his music further.
With support from mentors, Vic relocated to Nashville and began connecting with music executives and industry veterans. Yet growing opportunities did not silence his inner doubts. Eventually, he stepped away from music. It was through a subsequent season of heartbreak that Vic returned to God and began rediscovering his purpose. Embracing his African roots helped him find a musical direction that felt true to both his upbringing and his faith. Afrobeat became a natural home for songs that could be joyful and danceable while remaining honest about pain, hope, and spiritual growth.
That journey led to his debut album, The Journey, released in 2025. With “Yeshua!” arriving in April 2026, Vic continues to build a body of work rooted in the experiences that brought him back to faith and music.
This November and December, Vic will carry that story into Durban, Johannesburg, and Lagos through The Journey Experience, a series of free events centred on music, faith, story, community, and hope.
For Vic, returning to South Africa and Nigeria is an opportunity to give back to the places and people that helped shape him. The experience is especially intended for young people who may feel stuck, overlooked, discouraged, or uncertain about their next step.
At its heart is a simple message: Keep going. Your story is still being written.
Through live performances, honest conversations, and moments of reflection, The Journey Experience makes space for audiences to hear from artists and creatives who have navigated difficult seasons themselves. Its purpose is to remind people that setbacks do not have to define their future and that God can continue working through circumstances they do not yet understand.
Free admission is central to that vision, helping make the experience accessible to communities where opportunities to connect with inspiring artists, mentors, and positive role models may be limited.
Inspired by Philippians 1:6, The Journey Experience points to the hope that the God who begins a good work remains faithful to complete it.
