Samuel Day Dares Listeners To Live Differently With His Debut Full-Length Album, 'Uncommon'
Singer, songwriter, and producer Samuel Day is releasing his debut full-length album, Uncommon, today through NRT Music. The 16-track project unfolds in three chapters, bringing together Christian pop, moments of worship, and motivating anthems that invite listeners to dream boldly and embrace a life shaped by faith and adventure.
As the album came together, Day noticed a shared conviction running through its songs: life should be an adventure, rooted in the belief that God is good. Drawing from his own journey, the collection explores aspiration, adoration, and perseverance while leaving plenty of room for songs that are simply fun. For Day, those dreams and beliefs have become an unmistakable part of who he is.
"If you're the type of person that won't let those things go, you can't hide it," Day shares. "They're like a big red scarf tied around your neck, and that's how I've felt as I've carried these beliefs–different, but in a good way."
Leading the release is "Uncommon," featuring J. L. Clodfelter, a cinematic pop journey that captures the restlessness of wanting more from life than simply getting by. The song challenges complacency and familiar expectations, asking whether listeners are embracing the intentions of their Author or holding tightly to what they've inherited. Its repeated declaration, "I've been feeling uncommon," expresses a willingness to follow those convictions, even when doing so means standing apart.
Filmed in the desert of Monahans, Texas by Cinematographer Neal Johnson, the official performance video for "Uncommon", alongside the Official Lyric Video, pairs sweeping drone footage with on-location performances to capture the album's adventurous spirit. The expansive landscape complements the song's cinematic pop sound, setting the tone for the visual storytelling that accompanies the album's journey through faith, purpose, and possibility.
The album also features "Living Lovely" with Dominique Horsley, "The Unchanging" with Tahella, and "Stay" with Sarah Smith Clodfelter and J. L. Clodfelter. Nathan Abney is among the project's additional collaborators. Songs including "Beautiful Dream," "Kingdoms Are Watching," and "Warrior Spirit" further reflect the collection's range, moving from accessible pop and contemporary sounds to more raucous anthems.
Several songs on Uncommon have already earned radio and editorial playlist support. "Through the Night" was PlayMPE's most-downloaded track overall for the week of December 21, 2025, and spent 18 weeks on CMW's CHR Radio Chart. "The Unchanging," featuring Tahella, peaked at No. 3 on CMW's CHR Radio Chart, while "Stay" received placements on Spotify's "All New Christian and Gospel" and "Christian Rising" editorial playlists.
Originally from the Cincinnati area and now based in Fort Worth, Day began pursuing music with few industry connections and a determination to learn. He spent years developing his skills as a singer, songwriter, producer, filmmaker, and designer, creating music and visual content for his own releases and other artists. His performance history includes Bunbury, Sonfest, the Heinz Field Champion's Club, and opening for Colton Dixon.
The message behind Uncommon draws from John 10:10, where Jesus says He came to give life "to the full," and Matthew 6:10, where He teaches His followers to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. For Day, embracing that outlook is a personal choice informed by both faith and hardship.
"I realized that we get to choose what kind of story our lives are," Day says. "My life is an adventure, not a tragedy–even despite the tragic things I've been through. I invite you to make the same choice: I invite you to be Uncommon."
