MercyMe Win At The 2010 American Music Awards
MercyMe were named as America's Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist at last night's 2010 American Music Awards. The band were up against Casting Crowns and tobyMac in the Contemporary Inspirational category. MercyMe, who have now been nominated at the AMA's three times, previously won the title in 2004. The 2010 ceremony, aired on ABC, was held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday 21st November.
Winning by fan vote for their latest album 'The Generous Mr. Lovewell', the Grammy nominated band have sold nearly 6 million records with all of their albums being certified Gold or Platinum. MercyMe has also made appearances on The Tonight Show, CNN, Fox New Channel's Fox & Friends, ABC News, CBS' The Early Show, and on the pages of Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, USA Today, Billboard, and more.
The band thanked their fans on their blog last night saying, "It makes sense that we'd win a 'Fan Voted' award because you guys are amazing. Seriously we couldn't ask for a better community that surrounds us and our music. Thank you so much for being involved in our ministry. We can't thank you enough."
