Kevin Max Speaks For The First Time About Joining Audio Adrenaline

Former DC Talk singer Kevin Max has spoken for the first time about joining Audio Adrenaline as their new lead singer. Rumours first broke last month about Max joining the band, but until now he and his new band mates had remained tight-lipped.

Confirming the rumours for the first time, Max and Audio Adrenaline spoke to US chart publication Billboard about the new lineup. "I'm just really super excited. These are guys I look up to," Max said. "It was a no-brainer for me. The only [question] that I had in the whole scenario was: 'What's this going to be like musically?'"

The band, who finished in 2007 due to frontman Mark Stuart's vocal problems, recently fuelled rumours of a reunion with a teaser video (see below) which said, "On April 28 2007 Audio Adrenaline gathered together one last time with their devoted fans in Hawaii to perform their final concert... or was it?"

"There's been a consistency to the Audio A message," says Stuart, who is still involved with the band as a songwriter and producer. "It's important that that continues, but the music is going to sound a little different. Kevin is going to sound a lot different than me, a lot better than me. Kevin was an obvious choice because he's super talented and we've known him for a long, long time."

With their new line up completed by Dave Ghazarian (Superchick) on guitars, Jared Byers (Bleach) on drums and original Audio Adrenaline member Will McGinniss on bass, the new band have signed with label Fair Trade Services for the release of a new album due next spring.

The album's first single will be called 'Kings and Queens' and is expected to hit Christian radio this November. The track was written by Max and Juan Otero and the band have been shooting a video for it in Haiti this week. "It's just an incredible song about this idea of when we love the least of these that God wraps these little orphans in his majesty and they can become kings and queens," Stuart says of the song.

Audio Adrenaline released their last studio album 'Until My Heart Caves In' back in 2005 and won two Grammy awards and multiple Dove Awards during their time together.
