Pillar Announce Plans To Reform With New Album In 2013

Nov 05 2012

US rock band Pillar have announced that they will be reforming with the four original members ahead of a new album planned for next year.

"We're going to be doing a record and are shooting for a summer 2013 release" confirmed Pillar singer Rob Beckley. "It's going to have that gritty sound but will come from a more mature place lyrically. We're going to rally the troops so to speak... what made Pillar successful was not the music, but the fans. The Underground Army has been in hiatus for a while and now it's time to re-enlist."

Rob Beckley, Noah Henson, Michael Kalel Wittig and Lester Estelle first topped the charts together in 2002 with their album 'Fireproof', selling over 300,000 copies and winning two Dove Awards. In 2004, the band again topped the charts with the release of 'Where Do We Go From Here'.

"What was cool about 'Fireproof' and 'Where Do We Go From Here' was we were young and touring... those were pretty authentic records," Beckley says.

The band's next full-length, 'The Reckoning' (2006) added a Grammy nod, whilst 'For Love of the Game' (2008) brought more Dove nominations and hit singles but would be the end of the band's most successful line-up as Estelle and Wittig departed. Pillar released 'Confessions' in 2009 with a changed line up, but return to the original band formation for their forthcoming reunion album in 2013.
