Downhere, Ben Cantelon & City Harmonic Among Winners At GMA Canada Covenant Awards
The winners of the 34th Annual GMA Canada Covenant Awards were announced last week in Burlington, Ontario. The national awards ceremony celebrates the best of Canadian Gospel music, with Downhere, Ben Cantelon and The City Harmonic among this years biggest winners.
Last year, The City Harmonic won three Covenant Awards, this year they added the category of Praise & Worship Song of the Year to their list of Covenant wins, taking home an award for their song 'I Have A Dream (Feels Like Home)' from their critically-acclaimed album of the same name.
Canadian native Ben Cantelon, who now works in London at Worship Central, took home his first Covenant Award for Modern Worship Album of the Year for his full-length debut, 'Everything In Colour', with Ben also performing at the Awards ceremony.
High-profile band Downhere, who will shortly be ending their 12-year career as a group, won three major categories at the Covenant Awards. Nominated in eight categories the group walked away with Album of the Year for 'On The Altar Of Love', Group Of The Year and Male Vocalist Of The Year for lead singer Marc Martel. The band also performed their last single at the ceremony, 'Rest', which was nominated as Song Of The Year and Recorded Song Of The Year.
