Matt Redman Wins Two Grammy Awards For '10,000 Reasons'

Feb 11 2013

British worship leader Matt Redman was awarded two Grammy Awards at last night's award ceremony in Los Angeles.

The singer/songwriter won Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance and Best Contemporary Christian Music Song for his song '10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)' from his recent album '10,000 Reasons'.

Writing on Twitter after attending the 55th Grammy Awards in person to collect the awards, Redman said, "We wrote this song for the glory of God, so He gets all the glory today too".

Redman co-wrote the song with Jonas Myrin (pictured together, top right), who also took to Twitter after receiving the award. "Truly got 10,000 reasons and more to celebrate and be thankful for tonight. Thank You for all your love from around the world tonight. So encouraged and touched. Still in shock. Think I'll realize what really happened today in a couple of days."

'10,000 Reasons', Matt's eighth full-length album, released in July 2011, was recorded live at a worship conference in Atlanta, and featured 11 all-new songs.

Fellow worship leader Chris Tomlin ‏congratulated the pair, writing on Twitter, "Could not be happier for matt_redman and jonasmyrin for the Grammy for 10,000 Reasons...Yes!". Martin Smith ‏added, "Very proud of my brothers Matt and Jonas for winning the Grammys. By far the most loved congregational God song of 2012. An amazing journey."

Other winners in the Christian genre categories at the Grammy Awards were Mary Mary, winning Best Gospel Song for 'Go Get It', Lecrae with Best Gospel Album for 'Gravity', and TobyMac winning Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for 'Eye On It'.
