Review: Jesus Culture
Unstoppable Love

Jun 06 2014

The latest live CD/DVD from Jesus Culture is out and is titled 'Unstoppable Love'.

Featuring worship leaders Chris Quilala and Kim Walker-Smith - the newest release from the Jesus Culture band was recorded live during Jesus Culture's annual Encounter Conference in Sacramento at California's Historic Memorial Auditorium in January 2014.

With this release you get a great insight of what happened at that event. Tracks like We Will Run, Light of The World and Sing Out take the listener straight to the event. We hear the roaring powerful worship anthems blasting out from the moment the music kicks in. Musically the sound is very 'Jesus Culture', with soaring guitars and big drums, the sound we have come to know, and as always it sounds wonderful.

For me it isn't the big pounding rockier praise songs that draw me to this album, it's songs like the title track Unstoppable Love that really grab my attention. This song has so much power that sweeps you away on a wave of worship to God. The vocals are truly stunning, which again we have come to expect from Jesus Culture. Other songs that fall into this category are the stunning 'Your Name Is Glorious' and 'No Other Like You', two songs that build and build into great worship tracks.

Another song that stood out was the cover of Matt Redman's '10,000 Reason', which is one of the most used songs in churches over the world. This version sounds different to Matt's recorded version, but thankfully it doesn't lose the power of the song.

With this new release, as with most Jesus Culture releases, you know what you are going to get. The sound and style are very much in the same ball park as other releases, the passionate songs are all over the album and the music is of top quality. Do I think this is the best Jesus Culture release? Time will tell. What I do know is that the guys at Jesus Culture have put together a stunning collection of songs of worship to the King of Kings whose love never stops.
