Singer/Songwriter Jeff Gilliland Releases 'There Is Only One King' EP
Ohio worship leader and singer/songwriter Jeff Gilliland has just released his five-track EP titled 'There Is Only One King'.
Jeff is a brand new artist, and this first release blends the acoustic singer/songwriter genre with modern worship. "I wanted the project to sound different than typical Sunday morning songs, but still carry the intentional posture of worship."
The album was produced by Galen Crew (produced Zealand worship) who says, "If you like singer-songwriters like Passenger, chances are you will love Jeff's music. His lyrics are stunning...he finds ways to say things in such a unique and beautiful manner, like a modern poet or psalmist.â€
Jeff says, "I was never expecting to be able to do a project like this. For years I’ve been doing songwriting and home production as a hobby. For me, these were always just a form of rest and creativity that I enjoyed, so I was never in a hurry to put anything out. I would block out a couple hours a week to just write or record, or I would read and study about songwriting and production. I was working on recording some of these songs on my own, but I was stuck on making the songs come out like I wanted them to. I needed more time, different gear, and other people to take them to the place of what I heard in my head. I don’t normally ask the Lord the “stuff†like that. I ask Him for many other things, but not normally for “things†that would primarily be just for my enjoyment.
I remember praying a simple prayer like, “God, it would be awesome if you provided for this.†I can’t even begin to explain what immediately began to happen. It was like God answered my prayer times 10 with finances (specifically for this project), timing, relationships, and favor. I’ve been able to work with incredible musicians and people who believed in the strength of the songs and what I was trying to do. The songs I wrote began to carry the kind of life that I had originally envisioned. I am so thankful to be able to share them with you in this way, but ultimately, I’m thankful for the intimate journey with God that came along with the process."
