Looking Ahead: New Albums 2020

LTTM co-founder Jono writes about three albums from British artists that he is looking forward to hearing in 2020...

Matt Redman - Let There Be Wonder (Jan 2020)

There is always excitement when a Matt Redman release is close to coming out. Matt never makes a bad album, and is always full of songs ready for the local church to pick up and use in their times of worship. I hope this is no different. The highly anticipated album is Redman’s 14th career project and his first with Integrity Music. Matt says "One theme that shone through so strongly on this record was the name and character and story of Jesus. I think there’s a need in our society and in church to absolutely name Him, to not just speak generically about who God is but to put a name on Him and to declare it and to say it - to sing the name of Jesus."

Tom Read - Reorient EP (Mar 2020)

I have always been a fan of the music Tom Read makes. After the success of 2018's 'Lament' EP, Tom returns with a fresh batch of songs for a new EP. Tom has been outputting fresh creativity for the church for over a decade- in more recent years including songs such as ‘Gravity’ (featured on Integrity’s Ultimate Worship series) and ‘You Restore My Soul’ (title track of the New Wine 2018 live album). Lament EP garnered widespread critical acclaim, emphasised by editorial placements on Spotify’s New Music Friday Christian, Worship Now and Top Christian playlists- the project totaling over 300k streams to date. But it's the new songs, including the single Falling that have really got my musical ear listening. I can't wait for what the next EP will bring. "Love isn’t safe. It’s the craziest, riskiest, most vulnerable thing we could do." - Tom Read.

Ian Yates - Mystery (Apr 2020)

If this album sounds anything like the first single 'Loved By You' this is going to be an epic album, a special album, even an important album for people to hear. Ian Yates says about the album, "My prayer for this song is that it will minister to many who have struggled with loss, grief, pain and facing the mysteries of this life. Sometimes we don’t know why things happen and sometimes we can’t always see the bigger picture. In all that we face I pray that we can fully know this simple yet powerful, biblical truth that God is good and we are loved by Him.". Ian is a Christian worship leader and songwriter from Liverpool, UK. He leads musical worship at his home church Bootle Elim, and is married to Kate. They have 3 young children, Jackson, Elijah and Abiah. 2020 could be the year the world hears about this man in a big way.
