Mosaic MSC Explores What It Means To 'Human' With New Album Out Now
"During this time, we have been forced to slow down, not just to the rhythm of life and how much we do or how busy we are, but to slow down in our heart and brain. This album is a full reflection of what it means to be human,” said Carlos Pimentel, of Mosaic MSC’s fourth album HUMAN. The live recording marks their Capitol CMG debut and is the group’s first live project since 2016’s Glory & Wonder which produced their breakout single “Tremble.” The eight new tracks were recorded over the course of two nights at Mosaic, a church in Los Angeles founded by cultural pioneer and author Erwin McManus.
Accompanied by a 40-person choir, full band, and an audience of a thousand, HUMAN represents the heartbeat of the larger community. “One of the primary messages of Mosaic is we’re all human,” states Mariah McManus, founder of the group. “People don’t often view being human as a beautiful thing. We’re there for the outsiders and want to speak about our faith in a language that everyone understands.”
To celebrate the release of HUMAN, Mosaic MSC will be taking over this weekend’s livestreams of Mosaic’s virtual church gatherings. The beginning of each stream will feature three MSC live videos, “Behind the Music” explanations of the tracks, and introductions from band members. Join Mosaic MSC at mosaic.org/live on Saturday, May 16th at 5pm and 7pm PST or Sunday, May 17th at 6am, 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm PST.
Last month Mosaic MSC released the first single from HUMAN, “Fountain (I Am Good).” The track has since garnered over one million streams and uniquely demonstrates the energy and musicianship of the culturally diverse group and captures their larger-than-life sound. The follow up track, “Dreams,” encapsulates the simplicity of Mosaic MSC’s message through humble gratitude.
