Planetshakers are an Australian rock and worship band, which is part of Planetshakers' Ministry based from Planetshakers City Church (formerly Melbourne City Church). Their music has been described by some as "a contemporary style of praise and worship tempered with mainstream rock and pop". Looking at their back catalog the band have released two albums every year since 2000, with the majority of the albums being recorded live at their conferences.

Read More Planetshakers are an Australian rock and worship band, which is part of Planetshakers' Ministry based from Planetshakers City Church (formerly Melbourne City Church). Their music has been described by some as "a contemporary style of praise and worship tempered with mainstream rock and pop". Looking at their back catalog the band have released two albums every year since 2000, with the majority of the albums being recorded live at their conferences.
This album "Beautiful Savior" is the worship team's first recorded acoustic album, which in simple terms is a compilation of acoustic renditions of Planetshakers' most popular songs over the last 9 years, with two additional tracks written purposely for this album.
As with all live worship albums the one problem that either makes an album fall on its face or stand up tall is getting the mix correct. Some live albums over the years have missed the mark with this, but thankfully Plantshakers latest album gets the mix perfect, especially as this is an acoustic album, it still sounds full even without having the massive band to fall back on.
So far the album ticks the first box, but does it tick box two, song choices? In all honestly I didn't know much about this ministry until I was given this album, so I didn't know as many of the so called classics as I might have wanted to. The classic tracks in "Lift Up Your Eyes", "Rain Down", "It's All About Jesus" and "Beautiful Saviour" are all brilliant songs that will keep you singing all day from the moment you first hear them. They do have an early Hillsong feel, but that isn't really a problem.
Being an acoustic album is a brilliant idea because the songs are set up ready for you to be able to lead in your local church. Some worship songs on other albums are very difficult to reproduce in your own church as you might not have a massive band to help recreate that sound. But this album helps you use the ideas and sounds as a worship leader, so you can reproduce it even with the smallest of worship bands.
I was worried this album wouldn't have a full live sound seeing as it was an acoustic album, but there are so many positives on the album, it's well worth checking out.
