The theme of "The Power of The Cross" is wonderful to look at. The Cross is a sign of suffering and victory, of sacrifice and salvation, and over this double album it unpacks Christ's crucifixion.
The Power of The Cross is two CDs full of great music with the same theme running through them. The Power of The Cross is two CDs full of great music with the same theme running through them. Each track looks at a different aspect of the Cross, from a personal view, to suffering, sin and salvation. I have personally used this album to prepare before leading worship on a Sunday morning. This compilation of songs, led me to ask for forgiveness and then be in awe of God, at what He has done for me.
There are many songs on this compilation from some of the biggest artists around, with
the likes of Delirious, Matt Redman, Yfriday, Stuart Townend and Tim Hughes. All songs that we have heard a thousands times on other compilation CDs, for example "Here I am To Worship" by Tim Hughes and "Nothing But The Blood" by Matt Redman, both fit perfectly as part of the theme of the cross.
Without being over negative as usual, this is a good selection of songs on one theme and is a perfect soundtrack to bring the listener closer to God. "The Power of The Cross" blends together up-tempo songs with intimate worship moments very well, which you can easily put on and be amazed at just what God has done for you.
