Christian Musician Jon Scott to Release EP 'Freedom - A New Jerusalem' Inspired by Confronting Racial Prejudice

Oct 30 2020

London-based Christian songwriter and musician Jon Scott announces his upcoming EP entitled 'Freedom - A New Jerusalem', which aims to confront today’s issues with racial prejudice.

Jon is an active and long standing member of St. Marks Church (C of E) Kensal Rise and served as a Warden for 10 years. He is currently the Church Brent Deanery Synod representative and member of the Parish Church Committee. As it is Black History Month I wondered if you’d be interested in speaking with Jon Scott as a black Christian musician releasing new music inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement.

Originally inspired in response to Donald Trump’s plans to build a US/Mexican wall, the title track has taken on new meaning for Jon in the wake of the death of George Floyd and further race-fuelled atrocities. Vocals, guitar and percussion on the track all come courtesy of Jon himself, who is first cousin to musical megastar, Seal.

“The inherent prophecy of the “wall theme” manifested itself in the on-street killing of George Floyd. Then amazingly, we saw the outpouring of humanity, love and oneness in the BLM demonstrations all over the world. For me, this is a vision of “a new Jerusalem”, a place where all God’s children can stand together as one humanity.” Jon Scott
