Derek Webb Records Cover of Rich Mullins' 'We Are Not as Strong as We Think We Are'

Mar 23 2021

Derek Webb recently released a cover of Rich Mullins' song 'We Are Not As Strong As We Think We Are', accompanied by a Lyric Video. The song is taken from Derek's 'The Songs That Made Me: Rich Mullins' EP, available exclusively on Patreon.

"Every songwriter is made up of all the songwriters they love", explains Derek. "You can either resist or celebrate those influences. In an effort to celebrate some of mine, I'm making a series of EPs called the Songs That Made Me, each focused on a different artist whose work has made me who I am.

Rich Mullins was an easy first choice. His stark honesty and vulnerability coupled with his ability to almost perfectly blend poetry with grit have had a profound impact on my songwriting. This is showcased nowhere better than in his song, We Are Not As Strong As We Think We Are. A self-described break-up song, it’s one of the most beautiful."
