Old Bear Records Releasing Quiet Bear's 'Timber Snake'

Aug 18 2021

Old Bear Records is glad to announce the release of 'Timber Snake', a brand new single from the indie-folk band Quiet Bear. Fans will no doubt be pleased as this is the 2nd release this year from the band, having dropped an instrumental album, Chroma, in June.

There is a tension that sits unresolved in the chest of many an artist. It is the war between the settled security of home and the siren call of the road and stage. Most of the songs written at home are about the exploration and discovery offered by the road while most of the songs sung out on the road long for the love and stability left behind.

It is in this tension that the narrator of 'Timber Snake' finds himself. Anthony Hoisington, founder of the band along with Ryan Anderson (Guitar), Lukas Iverson (Guitar), Brennan Blowers (Drums) and Jeremy Thompson (Bass), brings an empathetic pen to the tragedy of star-crossed country star Hank Williams.

The instrumental tone of the track is ominous and lonely yet Hoisington's voice infuses the doomed narrative with warmth and care. This tune ought to sit quite comfortably in your Pensive Folk play list alongside Justin Towns Earl, Jason Isbell, or the Civil Wars. We think it is equally suited to be the soundtrack for a drive in the early morning dark or for closing up the house in the quiet of the evening.
