Interview: Red Stitches
Red Stitches are a UK based band from Devon who formed during lock down. Following the release of their debut album, 'Lost Lost Loved', Louder Than The Music chatted with them to find out more about their music and their thoughts on making music.
For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in making music?
We’ve all grown up in Church, playing music in the groups there, then pursued bands outside of this environment to, we put the band together as had been jamming out some new songs and it kind of just happened.
Tell us about your new album 'Lost Lost Loved' and what the inspiration behind it was?
The truth is we all find ourselves lost at times, overwhelmed with circumstance, and living in the consequences of stupid decisions. Pursuing a relationship with Jesus, we know the direction that’s taking us, the album was named ‘Lost Lost Loved’. Wherever life takes us, and we know we all feel a little lost at times, we know there’s always love, acceptance and a second chance to get things right. Red Stitches represents that second chance, to heal, and to learn to be found and loved again. The songs express the extraordinary lengths God has gone to give us that second chance, to love us, so we don’t have to be lost anymore.
Which is your favourite track on the album and why?
Whatever I Want it to be - sometimes the simpler it is the better.
What message would you like people to take from your music?
That pursuing Jesus is well worth it, in a time of uncertainty during and after Covid, Jesus is still well worth it, it’s the only way.
How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?
It’s chilled Indie / soft acoustic / good background music I guess. I’m intrigued what other people would say.
If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?
Tim Hughes, love his song writing.
How would you define success in your career as an artist?
I’d love people to just enjoy our music, to add it to their playlists. Going on tour and all that would be lovely. One step at a time though.

Jeff Buckley Grace.

What does the next year hold for you?
Release the album and gig, and get as many people listening to our music.
