Northern Ireland Singer Songwriter Louise Campbell Releases 'Stumble' EP
Louise Campbell, a Christian singer songwriter from Northern Ireland, has released her debut EP, ‘Stumble’.
"I’m a Christian who strives to share a very real view of life as I write and sing about my own battles with mental ill health, my frustrations with Church, and the hope that I have found along the way", she explains.
"Broken Mirror: This song came about when I was deeply unwell, I felt so worthless, like nothing I was doing was ever good enough, and one day a good friend was pretty frustrated with me and he told me he wished I could see myself the way others saw me, because whatever mirror I was looking in was broken, and the idea really struck me. It took a while for me to be in the right place mentally to write the song but the sentiment behind it never left me!
Be Still is a song about battling anxiety and panic attacks, I could be perfectly stoic on the outside and imploding completely internally. It starts off with an almost uncomfortable level of background noise, but there's a point in the song where you realise that the strength you need is within you, but sometimes you have to be willing to reach out and take the help that's offered to you.
Patchwork Saviour is one of the more Christian songs, as it's written directly about Jesus being there for the dirty and ragged people, the people barely hanging by a thread who think they will never be enough, ours isn't a saviour for perfect people. It was inspired by my lockdown projects where I dabbled in sewing and patchwork and I was struck by all the things I could make out of seemingly worthless scraps.
Stumble Into Grace, from which the EP takes its name, is a song about battling with all things organised, be it organised religion or a workplace that is grinding you down, quite often we only see the surface events that hurt or annoy us, and sometimes when we look a little deeper we see a whole world of struggle, and by being a little kinder, having a little more grace, we can be the person to others that we want for ourselves."
