Interview: Lori Wilke

Aug 25 2025

Lori Wilke talks to Louder Than The Music about her album 'Shadow of God', and what inspires her music.

For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in making music.

It started with a supernatural encounter when a minister who didn’t know me called me out by name and said, “God had given me a ministry in music like King David, and when I sang, people would be healed and set free. I began writing and recording music, and I also started singing in many churches, conferences, and concerts around the world.

Tell us about your album 'Shadow of God' and what the inspiration behind it was.

After reading Proverbs 19:23 regarding the fear of the Lord leading to life, and those who have it would abide in satisfaction and not be visited with evil. I was inspired to write music that promotes intimacy with God, emphasizing respect and honor towards Him. Psalm 91 spoke to me about walking in God’s protection and presence, which is the shadow of God and is the theme of the whole project.

Which is your favorite track on the album and why?

The song “Forever” is my favorite track on the recording. I wrote it as a love song to the Lord - not just a prayer request or a teaching. It’s just a simple love song and worship to the Lord.

What message would you like people to take from your music?

The respect of God as the most beautiful and wonderful Savior, and the grace to come before His presence to receive help in times of need.

How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?

Worship and prophetic praise in a creative style that incorporates many genres and shades of music. As I pray, I receive melodies from God and ask Him for songs from heaven. May His will be done on earth is my prayer.

If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?

I have worked with many songwriters in the Christian music industry, but currently, it is my daughter Laurelle because of her contemporary feel and fresh vision for this new generation.

How would you define success in your career as an artist?

Success means to obey the voice of God and fulfill His plans and purposes with my music. My favorite scripture verse is to deny myself, pick my cross and follow Him.

What is your favorite album of all time?

Medals by Russ Taff

You're stuck on an island, it's hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?

Shadow of God, for it is a song of protection based on Psalm 91. It is powerful and worshipful and certainly needed on a desert island. It gives you much joy and confidence as well.

What does the next year hold for you?

The release of a new book entitled Keep The Fire Burning (Born to Burn With Purpose). Also the release of the next recording project due out early 2026.
