GRAMMY Award- Winning Gaither Vocal Band Releases Valentine's Day Collection on Album & DVD, 'How Sweet It Is: Live In Concert'
The Gaither Vocal Band’s latest release, How Sweet It Is: Live In Concert (Gaither Music Group), out today, is an irresistible Valentine’s Day offering. Much like a favorite box of chocolates or a beloved bouquet, it delivers a little of everything. Featuring songs of romance and faith alongside American standards and Motown classics, the project showcases GVB’s signature blend of rich harmonies and soulful melodies. Recorded live with a full band at The Cabaret in Indianapolis, the album includes special guest appearances by Mark Lowry, Ladye Love Smith, and Chris Blue.
“We wanted to present a well-rounded album with songs from all of our favorite eras of music,” said Bill Gaither. “It’s themed around love, of course, but we wanted to make an album of love songs for the whole family.”
The Gaither Vocal Band has earned multiple GRAMMY nominations and awards, along with 18 Dove Awards. These Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame honorees continue to headline one of Christian music’s largest annual tours, setting the standard for excellence in male harmony. The current group is comprised of Bill Gaither, Reggie Smith, Wes Hampton, Adam Crabb, and Todd Suttles.
For this special release, the legendary singers reinvent love songs and American standards for a modern audience. Backed by a live band performing with understated elegance, How Sweet It Is: Live In Concert brings out the very best of GVB, capturing pure love in the moment.
Lush, heartfelt, and filled with heavenly harmonies, the GRAMMY-winning ensemble brings new life to timeless love songs on this LIVE performance CD + DVD. From the sentimental glow of the Benny Goodman classic “Moonglow” and the Dixieland-inspired “All I Ever Need Is You,” to the tender strains of “Whither Thou Goest,” highlighted by a recitation from Gloria Gaither, Bill, Wes, Todd, Adam, and Reggie lift their voices with warmth and grace. How Sweet It Is: Live In Concert presents a collection of music that has been perfectly curated for all tastes, and just in time for the Valentine’s Day season.
The album’s first single, released earlier this month, is a heartfelt rendition of Randy Travis’ “Forever and Ever, Amen,” written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz. Additional highlights include GVB’s stirring performance of the evergreen Elvis ballad, “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” Neil Sedaka’s 1970s classic “Laugher In The Rain,” a silken “Fly Me to the Moon” featuring Mark Lowry, a stunningly soulful “My Girl,” featuring Chris Blue, and an electrifying and uplifting performance of the gospel classic, “Your Grace and Mercy,” featuring the GVB plus special guests Chris Blue, Angela Primm, and Ladye Love Smith.
“This project reflects what the Gaither Vocal Band has always done so well, which is bring people together through songs that feel familiar, meaningful, and sincere,” said Paul Sizelove, President of Sun Label Group. “How Sweet It Is captures the joy of a shared live experience and reminds us that great music does not need to be complicated to be powerful. It just needs to be honest, well-crafted, and rooted in something real.”
The How Sweet It Is: Live In Concert performance will air on television stations across the U.S. and around the world. In addition, album advertisements will run during Gaither television programming, reaching more than 300 million homes weekly across more than 15 broadcast networks.
