Interview: Good News Guys
Christian duo Good News Guys talk to Louder Than The Music about their newest album, 'Noah's Ark', and the incredible location they filmed a series of music videos to brings Noah's story to life for children.
For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourselves and how you got involved in making music?
We both grew up in church and come from musical families, so music has always been a big part of our lives... especially the classic Sunday school songs, which we’ve always loved. We actually knew of each other growing up, as we attended the same church and high school, but we were a couple of grades apart and didn’t really connect at the time.
Vinnie went on to become a high school teacher, was involved in community theatre, and played trumpet in the Michigan State Marching Band. I (Jordan) owned a video and audio production company for over a decade, won several national awards, served as the Director of Media at First Church of Christ in Owosso, and played drums in the worship band.
In the fall of 2020, the Holy Spirit prompted each of us separately to begin creating Christian music and videos for kids, and then brought us together. We spent about a year creating content before officially launching The Good News Guys YouTube channel in 2021.
Tell us about your new album 'Noah's Ark' and what the inspiration behind it was?
We’ve always loved the account of Noah in Genesis. How God saved Noah, his family, and the animals from the flood. It’s such a powerful story that shows both God’s love and His justice. One of the themes we really wanted to highlight is how Noah and his family were saved through one door of the ark, and in the same way, we are saved through one door, and that is Jesus.
Which is your favorite track on the album and why?
Jordan: “Two by Two” is my personal favorite. It’s such a fun, upbeat track, and one of the coolest things about it is that most of the sounds were created using just our voices! The trumpet is the only real instrument on the track, and Vinnie absolutely crushed those parts. It’s groovy, really catchy, and definitely one that gets stuck in my head all the time.”
Vinnie: The styles on this album are all so different. I love that! If I had to choose just one, my favorite is ‘The Rainbow Song.’ I really love how it came together, and I love the message it shares about God’s faithfulness and His promises.
You've recorded videos for these songs in a pretty incredible place - tell us more about that!
Filming at the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky was absolutely incredible. It’s the largest Christian attraction in the nation. We had dreamed about filming there for quite a while, and in Spring 2025 we finally reached out. The team there was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. We’re so grateful we had the opportunity to bring these songs to life in such a meaningful place.
What message would you like children to take from your music?
Our heart is to help kids learn about God’s love from the earliest age. We want to point children to Jesus through music and videos that are fun, engaging, and rooted in biblical truth. Whether it’s through classic Sunday school songs or our original music, our prayer is that seeds of faith are planted early and grow as children grow. A relationship with Jesus is the most important thing in life.
Have you ever considered collaborating with another artist?
Yes! We’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with other creators like Jingle Jaqui, Chosen Kids, and Holy Sprouts. A few other possible collaborations for the future might be Yancy, Listener Kids, and Slugs & Bugs. It's great to partner with others who share the same heart and mission of bringing the Good News to the next generation.
How would you define success in your career as artists?
We hold everything with open hands and want to follow wherever God leads. If even one child comes to know Jesus through what we do, that is success to us. All glory belongs to God! We’re just thankful to be used by Him!
What is your own personal favorite album by another artist?
Jordan: One album I’ve always loved is Anatomy of the Tongue and Cheek by Relient K. It’s been a favorite since I was young!
Vinnie: An artist I’ve been enjoying lately is Forrest Frank, and his recent album “Child of God II” has a lot of biblical truths expressed in a relatable way.
You're stuck on an island, it's hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?
Jordan: “Lemonade” by Forrest Frank. If I’m stuck on a desert island, that song feels pretty fitting.. Life would definitely be giving me lemons! It would be a great reminder to stay positive and thankful no matter the situation.
Vinnie: You didn’t say if it was deserted or not, So I’d play “Take it all back (what the enemy stole) by Tauren Wells & Davies, and I’d run to the closest town where I can call for help!
What does the next year hold for you guys?
We have a lot of exciting plans, Lord willing! We’ve got notebooks full of ideas for new songs and videos. Right now, we’re working on a brand new lullaby series, this will be our second series of Lullabies! After that we’re planning a new praise and worship series for kids. Looking ahead, we’d love to cover more Bible stories like Joshua, Daniel, Esther, and the Parables.
We’re also continuing to travel for live events across the country! Be sure to check out our events page at goodnewsguys.com/events to see if we’ll be coming near you!
