Apr 17 2026

Owen Harrod is currently producing a new project called "Still Worthy" featuring songs like "Try Jesus", "Jesus Never Gave Up on Me", and his new single "He's Able".

Owen started singing in public during his high school years between 1986 and 1989, where he was the leader of his high school chorus' tenor section. The chorus did very well and traveled to other states for national competitions.

Owen started writing gospel songs in his high school years but started publicly singing gospel music after high school (1989) in a quarter group called The True Gospel Singers where his dad was a co-founder and guitarist.

In 1991 Owen was ordained as a minister and began working in the church while still singing from church to church and auditorium to auditorium throughout Maryland DC and Virginia with The True Gospel Singers.

Owen sung with The True Gospel Singers for around 12 years and in around 2002 joined the Lusby Church of God under the leadership of Elder Desi Weems Sr.

In 2004 Elder Weems, Owen and Elder Weems' sons formed The Chosen Sons. The Chosen Sons went on to record a project called "Something Good For Everyone" at the Trinity Broadcast Network recording studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

The project became popular throughout Maryland, DC and Virginia and later that year the song "You're The Reason" on the album hit national radio via a compilation CD in The Gospel Truth Magazine produced by Mr. Kerry Douglas.

In around 2010 he wrote "You've Been Good" and his song video aired in rotation on a popular BET gospel video show called "Video Gospel" for 4 to 5 months.

After years of working with The Chosen Sons, Owen decided to continue ministering in song solo, where he continues to sing in different churches, events, weddings, homegoing services, etc.

Owen was ordained as an Elder in 2021 and he's continually working within Lusby Church of God "Pastor Elder Desi Weems" and Greater Faith Ministries "Pastor Sharon Holley-Ward" as an elder while also continuing his music ministry and song throughout Maryland, DC and Virginia.
