Ruth A Harris Releases 'Everyone's Vulnerable'
Ruth A Harris, from North Birmingham, UK, has released her new song, 'Everyone's Vulnerable', available now on all streaming platforms.
"Everyone’s Vulnerable is a song about the stuff people hide from each other - grief, fear, loneliness, pressure, insecurity - and how universal all of it really is, regardless of who you are. I wrote it after watching the very moving, authentic and honest docu-series by Ed Sheeran 'The sum of it all'", explains Ruth.
£We like to create a pedestal for people, and put them on it- and then expect them somehow to be greater, stronger, more immune to life, because of fame, success, good looks - whatever. Watching Ed deal with grief, a court case, and a wife with cancer, and allowing the cameras to film and then not edit out the tears, emotion, pain of it all, felt so refreshing. Everyday people need people on pedestals to refuse to wear the veneer of indestructibility, and the masks and lies that hide reality, flaws and struggles. EVERYONE is vulnerable, everyone struggles- and if it were normalised, then maybe we would be more understood, better supported and we wouldn’t damage ourselves by trying to hide it - feeling like failures.
I write, record & produce my own weird brand of music - alternative pop with an ethereal, atmospheric, cinematic and spiritual edge - more than a few people have likened my voice/ music to a mixture of Enya and Kate Bush. While music has always been part of my life, I'm a late bloomer only learning the skills of production over the past 5 or so years.
Songwriting and producing has become a kind of therapy, to help me walk through and process the tough things of every day life. I love to create music that is emotive, honest & real, music can express things in a way that words alone can’t - I believe the music should make you FEEL something."
