The song was born out of profound personal loss. Brenton began writing the chorus while he and his family were recovering from a devastating wildfire that destroyed their home in 2018. Living without electricity or running water, they experienced both the generosity of those around them and the unmistakable faithfulness of God. In the middle of unimaginable circumstances, the words of Psalm 34 became a living reality: "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them."

The song was later completed alongside Nick Herbert, Bekah Spencer, and Rich Dicas, capturing a message that resonates with anyone who has faced suffering, uncertainty, or loss. Rather than ignoring life's pain, Hallelujah Jesus Saves boldly proclaims that even in our darkest moments, Jesus remains our hope, our rescuer, and our salvation.

Following its original live release in 2024 with Gas Street Music and Manor Collective, the song quickly connected with listeners. It has continued to gain momentum across streaming platforms and has found a home in churches around the UK, becoming a worship anthem that points people to the unchanging faithfulness of Christ. (The song also received the 2025 Step4wd award for Contemporary Worship song of the Year).

Now, this brand-new studio recording from KXC, featuring Brenton Brown himself, offers a fresh expression of the song's timeless message.
