Legendary Musician Bubba Chambers Releases 'I Was Runnin' Ahead of New Album
Legendary musician Bubba Chambers returns with his new song, "I Was Runnin'", the first single from his upcoming new album "Closin' Time".
Bubba Chambers was one of those young musicians from the Jesus Movement. He found Jesus more than fifty years ago, and today he is still singing that same essential message - now from the perspective of a lifetime.
In his new release, Closin' Time, you can hear the urgency he preached and sang about during those years. It is the uncomplicated message of the love of God, the forgiveness found in Christ, and the power of God to change a life.
More than fifty years have passed, but the invitation remains the same. The world has changed. The questions have not. And neither has the answer.
I Was Runnin' is the first single from the album Closin' Time. There are 3 singles being released this year before the full album drop. His days as a frontman and lead vocalist for The Hope of Glory led him to many churches, coffeehouses, and auditoriums, alongside some of the biggest artists of the era. Bubba is a rock-centric singer-songwriter. On this retro reflective tune, there is some iconic saxophone that will have you swaying along with a personal testimony from Bubba, straight out of the 70 movement. It’s was a really powerful decade and this is a really good song.
I Was Runnin'
I used to be an avid jogger. Usually doing five miles, two or three times a week. Thinking about the theme of running, I thought on how I had run from God and His great grace, only to be snared by the things of this world. But His relentless love continued to pursue me.
I listened to some running songs - Jackson Browne's 'Runnin' on Empty' and Bob Seger's, 'Against the Wind.' I thought man, that was me, running on empty and against the wind!
But I began to think on Psalm 23 and how God is always pursuing us with His hounds of Goodness and Mercy. And David says, they pursue us ALL the days of our lives.
Remember, if you're running from God , He's ever pursuing you, and as the song says, He's one who never tires. When we find the place of surrender, we find the place of rest.
